Akiko Enokido
Akiko Enokido completed the Botanical Art and Illustration certificate program at the New York Botanical Garden in 2004. She moved to Southern California in 2005 and began working as a botanical artist.
She has exhibited her work at various exhibitions, including the HSNY/ASBA International Exhibition, the 13th International Exhibition at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, and the ASBA Triennial Exhibition. After returning to Japan in 2012, she started painting the "Classical Camellia Japonica" series, which was awarded the Gold Medal at the 2016 London Royal Horticultural Society Botanical Art Show. In 2016, her three artworks of Japanese plants were exhibited at "Flora Japonica" at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery in the UK. During her visit, she led a workshop at the Royal Edinburgh Botanical Garden. In 2021, she received the Diane Bouchier Award for Excellence in Botanical Art from the American Society of Botanical Artists.
She organized The Botanical Art Worldwide-Japan in 2018 and 2025, which benefited from her network around the globe.
Since 2018, she has participated in the Florilegium project at the National Tropical Botanical Garden in Kauai, Hawaii, and the residency program at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation in Virginia.
Her works are held in the botanical collections of the Huntington Library, the National Tropical Botanical Garden, the Oak Spring Garden Foundation, the Kew Garden, and in many private collections.
