Anatolian Plant Legacy

A heritage that comes with plants, endures through art...

Anatolian Plant Legacy

Our Story

This exhibition, which makes Turkey's cultivated plant diversity visible through botanical art, was prepared with the strong collaboration of science and art. From einkorn to saffron, cherry to fig, poppy to salsify, pear to blue lupine... Each drawing depicts not only a plant, but also the memory, flavor, texture, and culture it carries.

  • A visual archive shaped by botanical illustration
  • Drawings meeting with knowledge
  • Each drawing a testimony. Each plant a story

Following Science, Through the Language of Art

In collaboration with Flora Research Society and BIRET

Established in Istanbul in 2005 with the aim of researching, documenting, and protecting Türkiye's rich plant diversity, the Flora Research Society has been bringing scientific work to the public for years.

The Plant Illustrators Committee (BIRET), established within the association in 2021, treats botanical illustration not only as an aesthetic art form but also as a scientific means of expression.

The "Anatolian Plant Legacy" exhibition is the product of the combined effort of these two strong entities, blended with knowledge, observation, and artistry.

Botanical Art Worldwide 2025

30 countries, 30 simultaneous exhibitions – Türkiye is participating for the first time!

The Botanical Art Worldwide program, which aims to make botanical art visible at a global level, comes to life in 2025 with simultaneous digital and physical exhibitions across 30 countries.

At Salt Beyoğlu

We meet with Anatolia's plants in Istanbul.

The "Anatolian Plant Legacy" exhibition comes to life with the hosting and strong collaboration of Salt Beyoğlu. Salt, one of Türkiye's most respected cultural institutions, is involved in this project not only as a venue provider; but as a creative partner that deepens the public impact of the exhibition with its contributions ranging from content development processes to program design. With this project, Salt once again demonstrates the importance it attaches to bringing cultural heritage together with new forms of expression.
