Born in Çanakkale in 1976, Karabacak graduated from the Department of Biology at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in 1999. While continuing his scientific research, he began working on plant illustration in 2005 after attending the training of the world-renowned botanical artist Christabel King.

He is particularly known for his work on the Flora of Çanakkale and Turkey. He has participated in numerous botanical research and plant conservation projects, contributing to the documentation and preservation of Turkey's biological diversity.

He currently continues his academic career as a Professor in the Department of Biology at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. He also serves as the Director of the Çanakkale Botanical Garden Herbarium (CBB), contributing to the formation of collections that document the natural richness of the country and region.

He is actively involved as an illustrator and writer in the Illustrated Flora of Turkey Project, and also holds the responsibility of volume editor for this important project. He is also a member of the Turkish Plant Terminology team.

Through his works, which combine art and science, he actively serves on the Scientific Jury and the Turkish Steering Committee of the Anatolian Plant Legacy Exhibition.
